Augmented Reality (AR): When virtual fitting increases sales by 94% according to Shopify!
A sobering number: Retail stores have reported conversion rates of up to 90% for augmented reality-based transactions.
The opportunity is HUGE:
Product returns reduced by 25% (and thus also impact on the environment)
3x conversion rate
length of stay on site +2.7x
Case study:
LVMH has introduced virtual try-ons for its cosmetics. The exchange rate would be five times higher, but LVMH remains discreet about this figure. Links in comments.
So augmented reality for whom, for what?
For the furniture:
3D configuration in real time
Visualization in the customer area (useful to know if your new piece of furniture will be well integrated into your interior)
Immediate adjustment
For fashion:
Virtual fitting (check out the Veesual list )
size adjustment
preview from multiple angles
For beauty:
Live makeup test (and L'Oréal is way ahead of BeautyTech)
skin diagnosis
Personalized recommendations
The numbers that kill:
50% of consumers can remember the brand better thanks to immersive advertising
61% of customers prefer websites with AR
⚡️ My expert advice after 25 years in the digital sector:
Start with ONE product segment. Check. Measure. Scale.
Again, it doesn't really make sense to start with large works, but rather just a category to measure the impact on revenue (and possibly time spent on the page).
You can follow this standard action plan in 3 steps:
Month 1:
Product audit adapted to AR
Technology choice (The reality in France seems to know its stuff with great references like the Veesual nugget for the fitting and Banuba also for the make-up )
Proof Of Concept (POC) on a track
Month 2:
user testing
UX optimization (user experience).
team training
Month 3:
Widespread use after validation of the POC
AR-First marketing
ROI measurement
You are affected if:
Your return rates are exploding
Your average shopping cart stagnates
You are looking for differentiating innovations
Your digital transformation is stalling
Your customers demand more interactivity
⚠️ Warning:
Don't confuse gadget and utility. AR has to solve a real customer problem, otherwise you've implemented a sometimes expensive tool that generates next to no profit. And I come back to the need to do tests on a very small scale to see if they're done before larger work.
